Barbara Kelley received 2 years of specific education in a unique paradigm of psychology, The Three Principles, through the Health Realization Division of the Santa Clara Department of Alcohol and Drug. Her facilitators have been psychologists, therapists, group home facilitators, and Dr. Roger Mills. Dr. Mills is one of the pioneers in the development, testing and application of a Principle-based psychology. His pilot-demonstration projects have been funded by the National Institute of Mental Health, the U.S. Department of Justice, the National Institute of Drug Abuse, the California Wellness Foundation, and several major private foundations. Dr. Mills' work with inner city schools and communities plagued with drugs, crime, welfare dependence and abuse have resulted in national innovative projects awards, national network and public television coverage, and foundation and corporate produced documentaries on empowerment, resiliency and change, and unleashing the human potential.
In addition, Barbara has studied the writings, and audio and visual tapes of Sydney Banks, the first person to articulate the Three Principles as the foundation of all psychological understanding. Barbara had the privilege to interact and spend time with Mr. Banks at his recent visit to San Jose in October, 2008 during his 2-day speaking engagement.
Among other consulting applications, Barbara applies her psychological education to the area of weight management, believing that this psychological approach is generally overlooked in most weight management programs.
Currently, Barbara is receiving referrals from the John Muir Weight Loss Surgery Center for those people who either need to lose weight to qualify for a specific surgery, or for those people who don't qualify or can't afford the surgical procedures available.
Barbara facilitates bi-monthly support group meetings in Walnut Creek using the Three Principles as the psychological foundation for helping clients to make the healthy, long-term lifestyle changes necessary to maintain their physical and psychological wellbeing.
Your state-of-mind is what is keeping you on the "dieting" merry-go-round. If you want off, step back from all the "programming" that has been done to you over the years from family, friends, religious organizations . . . and step into that quiet place within yourself. In the stillness, when no other voices can be heard, you will hear the wisdom that has been residing within you since the day you were born.
There and there alone is where you will discover your answer to permanent health and weight management.
When you know who you are at the core of your being, you know what to do. So why do you let so many outside influences rob you of your inner "knowing"? Intuition will take you beyond your small self and lead you to your best SELF. I would like to help you try something new for a change . . . try trusting your SELF in 2008.
