Most people wonder when anyone has time to relax and refresh, especially when the work day seems to get longer. Count in the time to get ready for work, commute, and then go through a long work day - it may seem like that is all you do - commute and work. If you work your plans so that you have a definite scheduled time to do your calls and networking, you will actually be far more efficient and have more time on your hands to lead a balanced life. You must always take personal time everyday to make yourself more productive. I know I have a tendency to keep working until the project is done. Writing a book is a perfect example. I should finish a chapter and then do something else but I find I get into writing and do not stop to look after myself. Most work projects are the same way.
It is important to look around you and see where you can add value to your own life and that of your family. I recently attended a seminar put on by a new friend. The speaker was talking about looking at life from a different angle to get a better perspective. Work will always be there, it just depends on how you package it for yourself. You can work hard all your life but if you do not take time to enjoy the rewards you have created, then you have not really won at all. The biggest challenge is to find a way to manage your work life to include your personal life.
It may be as easy as taking time to take a walk, close your eyes, and get away from the office. If it is vigorous exercise you need, take your lunch break at the gym. When you get into your work in the afternoon, you will find yourself far more productive and as an added bonus, you will not be so tired when you arrive home.
